Urticaria
Urticaria
Hives, also called urticaria, is a common skin condition characterized by itchy, raised bumps on the skin. These bumps can appear in various sizes and shapes and are often accompanied by intense itching. Hives can be caused by various triggers such as allergies, infections, stress or medications and can be both acute and chronic.
As a dermatological practice, we specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of skin conditions such as hives. Our experienced dermatologists are on hand to help you determine the causes of your urticaria and develop an individually tailored treatment strategy.
Important features of urticaria are:
• Rashes : The rashes of urticaria are usually reddish or pale and can range from small raised patches to larger patches that merge together. They are often referred to as "wheals" or "hives."
• Itching : The affected areas of skin often itch severely and can cause discomfort.
• Transient nature: Urticaria rashes are usually transient and may disappear within a few hours to a period of one day. They may disappear from one place and then reappear in another place.
• Triggers : Urticaria can be triggered by various factors, including allergens, foods, insect bites, medications, physical influences (such as friction or cold), and emotional stress .
Chronic urticaria: When the rashes last longer than six weeks, it is called chronic urticaria. In these cases, the exact cause may be more difficult to identify.
